Open Enrollment is now underway!
It’s time to evaluate your Medicare Part “D” Prescription Drug Benefits.
If you’re a Medicare Part “D” recipient, or will soon qualify, it’s important to remember that the open enrollment period runs from November 15, 2008 to December 31, 2008.
During this time, you can select a new Medicare Part “D” plan or begin your enrollment process for 2009 if you now qualify.
Your existing plan’s premiums and benefits may have changed, so you need to see if it’s still right for you. If you don't enter the program when you're first eligible, you may pay a permanent penalty.
The standard deductable has increased to $275.00 and the coverage gap begins at $2,700 through $4,350.
Basic plans have no gap coverage, but some insurance companies do offer a "no deductable" plan that will cover some generic drugs in the gap.
These are all good reasons to see if your current plan best meets your needs, and now is the time to evaluate your coverage.
